To Our My Local Market Directory Community,
It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I write this announcement.
After much thought, many sleepless nights, and a lot of tears, I have made the very difficult decision to close down My Local Market Directory as of the 30th of June 2026.
What started in 2021 as a simple idea born from my market business My Local Market and wanting to help other local markets, community events, small business, and supporting local, grew into something far bigger than I ever imagined. Over the last 5 years, My Local Market Directory has proudly advertised a grand total of 15,891 markets, expos, community events, festivals, fetes, fundraisers, food trucks and small business events across Australia.
This directory has truly been a labour of love.
Behind the scenes, MLMD has been built while raising a family as a single parent and working three jobs to keep everything afloat while continuing to grow the directory. Like many small business owners across Australia right now, the ongoing pressures of rising costs, burnout, balancing family life, and trying to continue supporting a community-driven platform have become incredibly difficult.
This decision has not been made lightly.
Markets and community events have never just been “events” to me. They are places where friendships begin, where dreams are launched, where families spend time together, where creatives shine, and where small businesses often take their very first steps. Our market community has become a second home to both myself and my family.
To every event organiser, stallholder, customer, sponsor, supporter, follower, and friend who has supported My Local Market Directory over the years — thank you. Truly. Every share, comment, booking, listing, recommendation, conversation, and kind word meant more than you will ever know.
Although My Local Market Directory is closing, my passion for supporting local businesses, markets, creatives, and community events is not disappearing.
Moving Forward
I have decided to move forward by creating my own personal brand, Chantel E. Jackson, where I will continue sharing my love of markets, small business, community, art, behind-the-scenes experiences, seasonal produce recipes, local gems and other things to come.

In addition, all of our blogs and 300+ educational resources will be transferred across to the new website launching soon so they can continue helping markets, event organisers, stallholders, and small businesses into the future.
I also want to take a moment to remind everyone just how important it is to continue supporting local businesses and community events.
Right now, many small businesses are struggling quietly behind the scenes. Community events, local creatives, markets, family-run businesses, and event organisers are all feeling the pressures of the current economy. Supporting local does not just help businesses survive — it helps communities stay connected, helps families put food on the table, and helps keep local events alive for future generations.
Please continue attending local markets.
Please continue supporting small businesses.
Please continue supporting your local communities.
We are also still incredibly proud sponsors of the Mystic Roses Netball Club throughout 2026, so you can still expect updates on the club.

Chantel, Reba & Pepper
